This is the link to the question -> https://www.quora.com/Why-is-Anbazhagan-Ambrose-trying-hard-to-make-his-mother-tongue-Telugu-an-official-language-in-Tamil-Nadu. I've always had a doubt whether mudaliar/vellalar arrange for themselves to be attacked, or whether them and their attackers have an understanding. I mean, attacking somebody for being telugu? That's what Naam Nadar Katchi does. And Brahmins too join this sometime. For Brahmins, attacking the source of hate against them is the purpose. They just use this as one of the channels to do that (the other being 'anti-hindu') since there is already a stream of attack along those lines. They think doing this pains them. I don't know if  Brahmins know that the nadars/kallars who blame #drav from the 'non-tamil' line of attack not exactly enemies with #drav. Their relationship with #drav is very very deep.

Question: -Why is Anbazhagan Ambrose trying hard to make his mother tongue Telugu an official language in Tamil Nadu?

Anbazhaga Modhaliyaan's Answer :- Ah an anonymous questioner again. Must be that “unyielding bravery” group. Irony, irony!!!!

Normal Tamils read my name simply as Anbazhagan. Tamil Notionalists when I they see my name - Annavaram Anbazhagalu Garu.

Now I have been analyzing the demography of Tamil notionalists and most of them seem to be from Southern districts of Tamilnadu, which incidentally had very high influence of Poligar. I on the other hand come from Arcot, the region least touched by Poligars.

Which makes me wonder why these Southern district boys keep calling pure Thondai Mandalam stock like me as Telugu?

Simple reason - insecurity complex. I think these boys know they have Poligar ancestry and trying to project others as Telugu so they will not come under scrutiny.

I am 100% Thondai Naadan and a typical Thondai Naadan looks like this. Fierce and brave enough not to hide behind anonymous tag when asking and answering.

The only connection I have with Telugu is my closest closest buddy is of Telugu ancestry. Funnily his boys speak and write Tamil fluently. My daughter does not. I often wonder who is Tamil here :)

I too am opposed to Anbazhagan for varied reasons, be it hatred for Brahmins or his ultra Tamil chauvinism and his philosophy of Dravidian supremacy but that doesn’t mean you endorse some idiot, who is needlessly meddling in some mundane issue. Criticism should be valid and for a reason, opposing doesn’t mean you speak nonsense.

This was my response :-

But what about the non-sense that Anbazhagan’s ilk, mudaliar/vellalar, and nattukottai chettiars, have been spewing for one hundred bloody years? not just spewing, they have filled the entire tamil collective consciousness with their infinite hate and malice against brahmins. This is unique to tamil country. Tamils, as a people, in general, and chettiar-mudaliar-pillai in particular, are the most hateful, vile, venomous beings on earth. This is no exaggeration. Non-tamils don’t know about the nature and intensity of brahmin hate in TN. Chettiar-mudaliar-pillai are the source. Periyar was from the caste that ruled TN (balija naidu) and he was just a conduit for the hate. And, can you imagine, he is married to brahmin ABCDE and many mudaliars/vellalas do this. Target brahmin women specifically and marry them, doing brahmin hate on the sides all the while. Chettiar-Mudaliar-Pillai pathopsychology might be hard for non-tamils to understand.

IDK what the hell ‘dravidian supremacy’ means. Its an empty vessel filled only with hate. They didn’t do any social justice. Chettiar-Mudaliar-Pillai only created an artificial social injustice by translating manusmriti into tamil in 1919. Dravidian Politics of ‘social justice’ is theirs, and this translation was a preparation for their politics. To create contrast. They didnt change reality. They artificially constructed a past which contrasted with reality. The changes in reality happened naturally, and happened everywhere.

You spoke about tamil chauvinism. what does that mean? Saying only tamils should rule and live in TN? i don’t think he/they says that. because it was the vellala/mudaliars who assisted the nayakas to settle in and rule TN and Sri lanka. These tamil elites prefer the outsider nayaks to the beastly maravars/kallars, i think.

There is talk of tamil nationalism in yazhpanam. As always, we think it is opposed to the outsider, but it is actually an inside fight. Just like how hindi edhirpu was not tn vs. the centre, but mudaliar vs. (vanniya+nadar+periyar) which first happened as congress vs dmk, then as nedunchezhiyan vs karunanidhi.

Eelam war was not sinhala vs tamils. it was vellala vs non-vellala. The vellalas had been oppressing the lower caste tamils for centuries. Then, post independence, the lower caste non-vellalas slowly gained strength and managed to achieve a major milestone in 1968. The vellalas were quite dominant in colombo, this too for centuries. So, the sinhala wanted to empower the lower caste tamils in order to weaken the vellalas.

Tamil nationalism in SL was of the vellalas to begin with, and it was moderate, because the vellalas were already well-to-do.

After 1968, the non-vellalas entered the political fray. There were some political changes too, from the SL govt side (-> Interview with Ragavan on Tamil Militancy (Early Years)).

This was when the vellalas (SJV “Thanthai” Chelva “Nayagam” et al) placed a cry for a separate eelam through the vaddukoddai resolution.

One view of this is that this plea for a separate country was to have a free hand in oppressing the lower caste tamils again. Since 1968, they had broken their chains of long, and started entering the mainstream. The vellalas wanted to break free of the SL govt laws which limited casteism, and have a free hand in oppressing the recently-liberated lower caste tamils.

LTTE was the face of those lower caste tamils, though it did have vellalas in it.

The new phase of tamil nationalism that came with LTTE was not moderate like that of the vellalas because vellalas didn’t have bread and butter issues. Theirs was not a fight for survival.

The lower caste tamils had to fight to survive.

Dravidian Movement was also built by vellalas and nagarathar (chettiar-mudaliar-pillai). Probably why they didn’t intervene in the eelam war too much. pazha nedumaran is a vellala.

naam nadar katchi would be analogous to the LTTE way of politics because it is the non-vellala one, and anti-establishmentarian. but then, nadars attacking chettiar-mudaliar-pillai movt is a farce because nadars owe everything to it. nadars growth would have been impossible without periyar and drav movt (including TN congress) and nadars and others were never oppressed in TN like the non-vellalas were, in sri lanka. so, they don’t have a moral right. im guessing naam nadar katchi and drav movt are playfully fighting. after all, the original ntk merged with dMK in 1967.

tamil nationalism of the vellalas/mudaliars like anbazhagan is not chauvinistic. they put on that garb to appear legit, but that’s the version of tamil nationalism thats friendly to non-tamils. vellalas of SL were/are on good terms with the sinhala, and vellalas/mudaliars of TN assisted the nayakas to rule TN.

Anbazhagan’s is the version of tamil nationalism thats non-chauvinistic. but they want to appear different in order to fool the other guys. to appear legit.
